Yesterday was an excellent day.

1. I finally went to Moe’s, and all of Hye Won’s stories suddenly make a lot more sense, because 70% of them take place at, or otherwise involve, Moe’s, and now I FINALLY understand what Moe’s is. And how kickass it is.

2. I watched Despicable Me! Hilarious, clever, and engaging. 3D is baller.

3. HK and I made tshirts for tomorrow’s world cup final! I’m uploading a picture of my masterpiece as we speak. Can’t wait to rep it tomorrow when HOLLAND WINS!

4. Re-watched Bend it Like Beckham, a movie that is an absolute revelation. So many things to love… soccer, Indian people, best friendship, and of course… JONATHON RHYS MEYER, possibly they most PERFECT human being ever. holy shit. he literally takes me breath away, and Hye Won can attest to this fact. I was reduced to a dry heave during some of the scenes where he pierced Jessy with those smoldering blue eyes.

5. Best of all, I spent the day with my fav korean.

I AM EXCITED FOR:

1. WORLD CUP FINAL ON SUNDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!

and I am especially excited for tomorrow! Hye won and I are going to make orange shirts in support of Holland!

2. Tonight was our first 2010-2011 orchestra council meeting! And whatever, I’m a dork, but I’m really excited for another year of orchestra and orchestra council. I’m excited for senior year in general. adlfkajdf ! excitement.

soccer & harry potter

Holland is in the finals! Watching that game was the main activity for the day.. I actually am at a loss as to what I’ll do to occupy my days once the World Cup is over. I had no idea there was this previously dormant, absolutely rabid sports fan inside of me until the cup started. I wonder where this alter persona will disappear to on July 11th. I’ll keep ya’ll updated. Maybe all this enthusiasm and energy will be funneled into other pursuits. That would be productive.

In other news, today I re-read the seventh Harry Potter for the first time in… years? Maybe. Suffice to say that I can’t remember the last time I re-visted any of the Harry Potter books. I read the Deathly Hallows from first page to last, and flipping through those pages was like sitting down with a close, forgotten friend. Harry was doing the same things, killing the same old Voldemort, but I’m a different person from who I was when I last read the book, and that made all the difference.

This weekend a ton of family came over, and my 8 year old cousin disappeared into a room with the seventh book, refusing to leave it for dinner or for friends. Re-reading the book myself, I marvel at the way she devotedly reads Harry Potter. What does she take away from the JK Rowling’s lessons on life and death? How does she interpret, or grapple with, Dumbledore’s wisdom? The way Harry dies and doesn’t die and deals with death and love still leaves me in awe, even at 16. My cousin is half my age but no doubt gleans something just as meaningful from the text. That’s the amazing thing about literature, for sure.

anyway, soccer + harry potter = excellent day.

HUP HOLLAND HUP!

THE NETHERLANDS WON! SO excited! I went into the game rooting for Holland, but didn’t expect them to win (shame on me for not having more faith!). So the fact that they came back in the second half to defeat the best soccer team in the world has made this an EXCELLENT day. To top it off, this morning I found out that the Dutch have this awesome slogan, “Hup Holland Hup!” which translates to “Go Holland Go!” Of course its a hilarious/legit slogan and shouting it during the match just made everything 983475 times more fun =D

Also, Wesley Sneijder’s the MAN.

Anyway, I’m really excited to watch them in the semifinalssss. Hopefully they’ll get some better goals (instead of strange ones from penalty shots- though i’m not complaining!) and the game’ll be a little less aggressive (not the most fun to watch- again, not complaining..)

Also, love that snazzy orange =)

somebody stop me..

Somebody stop me! I’m becoming way too involved with the internet. Gmail, facebook, twitter, and now tumblr… this isn’t good news. oh well! Hyewon and Jeff seem to be having waay to much fun on tumblr, so I’ve jumped on the bandwagon and will see where it takes me. Right now I’m sitting in a smelly cubicle at the Firestone Library not doing what I’m supposed to me doing, aka just another day in the life. LOL somebody just walked in noisily and I jumped a little and switched the screen to the Word document I’m “working” on. Switched back! Instinct, I tell you.

fedora! okkkk tumblr people, later.
